We are all called to join Pope Francis in celebrating the seventh World Day of the Poor on November 19, 2023, the 33rd Sunday in Ordinary Time. The theme of this year’s message is “Do not turn your face away from anyone who is poor” (Tob 4:7), taken from the Book of Tobit, a text of the Old Testament that offers a rich teaching on poverty and charity.
The World Day of the Poor is an opportunity for the Church community to show its solidarity with the poorest of our sisters and brothers, both at home and abroad.
In encouraging all to mark this day, the Spiritan Mission Ireland (SMI) office has prepared two resources which might help engage with the theme of this day.
